Students have the opportunity to pursue further studies in jazz performance through the Certificate Program in Musical Performance. We offer two big bands and variety of small groups which presently include the Monk/Mingus Ensemble, Jazz Composers' Ensemble, Miles Davis Ensemble, Art Blakey Ensemble, Hard Bop Ensemble, Avant-Garde Ensemble, and Fusion Ensemble. Academic courses include "Evolution of Jazz Styles", "Jazz Theory Through Improvisation and Composition", "Projects in Jazz Performance", and "Jazz in American Society". |
